Deb Hoy is an artist whose practice has been based on making sculptural installations in public spaces with local people.
New work is focussing on responses to discrete experiences with the natural environment, reconsidering the notion of ‘site-specific’ with minimal intervention.
PlantArtistry
PlantArtistry is an emerging new direction which is focused on creating works on paper with hand-made plant inks and natural earth pigments.
PlantArtistry emerges through developing relationship with a particular ecosystem or specific plant through sensory engagement and whole body movements.
The first of these works can be seen in the exhibition ‘What Still Grows’ opening at Lewisham Arthouse on 17th September. The exhibition runs until 28th September 2026.

Artist in Residence Projects
In 2024, Deb Hoy was one of several Artists in Residence at ‘The Gingerbread House’, a temporary artist’s hut nestled in the Stroud valleys, conceived and delivered by artists from ‘Walking the Land’ CIC with funding from Defra. The project culminated in the Growing Places exhibition and symposium at Museum in the Park, Stroud in early 2025, with a digital directory of gathered resources.
Throughout 2025-2026 Deb Hoy will be Artist in Residence at Prema Arts Centre in Gloucestershire, focussing on developing new work.
